Center for Gait

And Motion Analysis

A physical therapist will conduct motion analysis testing in a room equipped with advanced video, computer and monitoring equipment. A typical visit takes 3 hours

The child walks across a mat that senses the pattern and distribution of pressure under the feet.

Gait Analysis

Analyzing how someone walks can be difficult from observation and clinical examination alone. Motion analysis provides objective information that describes exactly the movement of the joints in three dimensions, the activity of the muscles that cause movement, and the forces at the joints during walking.

This is important for people with complicated gait problems. Once the motion analysis data is collected, it is used to assist physicians in treatment decision-making to correct gait problems. Treatment may include orthopedic surgery, physical therapy, bracing or medication.
